I found a leaflet in my postbox that the DA will be improving on Education DA will be improving on Education ????? As a parent who has a 3 ½ year old autistic child, can not afford private tutoring, and the only government special school (Vera School) within Western Cape being inadequate with waiting lists of 3 to 4 years, which is detriment to any child's development at that age, I would like to know what the DA is going to do to improve the quality of life for those children having to wait? All focus has been shifted on normally developed children, but what about the special needs children of our country? When will the educational department realize that one school within the Western Cape is not enough and more should be done? At the very least, to alleviate this problem, look into creating an environment within the normal schools to cater for such special needs children! Use our public schools and create separate special sections within those schools to accommodate and eliminate this ever growing problem, not just for autism, but for all types of special needs children. Please help improve our educational system within the Western Cape area as it is so desperately needed for special needs children as well. As a parent who has a 3 ½ year old autistic child, can not afford

My Tash is 9 and the hormones have started and I've realised I've got to learn a new language - Tween! I haven't figured it out yet but when the mood swings come we may as well be speaking a lost language that neither of us understand. I can only imagine how much more challenging it must be for you with Kendall. However, even with Tash understanding the birds and the bees, the hormones override any reasoning, knowledge or understanding. All the strength to you guys! The "invisible" problems are hormones which directly affects her presenting mood swings which usually manifest in the challenging and very aggressive outburst, which included self injury and people within her close proximity. I compare it to a Puff Adder (snake), from passive to exploding to passive within 5 seconds, with NO pre-warning. Kendall is non-verbal and agree peeps with Autism better learn with visual perception & understanding.
